Mother Root Ritual Video

Mother Root is a non-alcoholic aperitif made with ginger, apple cider vinegar and a hint of chilli. They reached out to me for a collaboration to create a video showcasing their drinking ritual, kindly sending me a bottle to try, and I loved it!

Their initial idea was for me to film myself demonstrating the ritual, but I suggested creating a fun 30-second 3D animation instead. And that’s how this project began.

Making

Shake 8 times, pour over ice, top up with soda water and stir — then enjoy!
The challenge of this project was creating a fun and easy-to-understand way to show this process. I was inspired by The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,
a short film directed by Wes Anderson. I really enjoyed how it uses theatrical storytelling to drive the narrative.

I divided the animation into four scenes, using Mother Root’s main ingredients — ginger, apple and chilli — as the key elements in each scene.
