Hello! My name is Marina Nakagawa.

Hi, I’m Marina Nakagawa — a 3D animator and motion-graphics artist based in London (originally from Japan). I specialise in 3D character design, animation, and creative direction — from concept to final render. Over the years I’ve worked on a wide variety of projects, from commercial brand promos and music videos to art exhibitions and personal short films.

I love working across different media and styles: sometimes playful, sometimes cinematic; always with a focus on storytelling and craft touch. Whether it's designing stylised characters for a promotional campaign, creating immersive 3D animation for a billboard exhibition, or making a personal film that reflects real life — I approach each project with care, curiosity and a desire to explore.

My work often combines strong design sensibilities with technical versatility. I’m comfortable using tools like Blender, Cinema 4D, ZBrush (and others) to model, texture, rig, animate, and render — whatever the project demands. I enjoy projects that challenge me to learn new techniques or to adapt to new briefs quickly, while still delivering polished, visually engaging results.

Beyond the technical skills, I value collaboration and trust in creative partnerships. Some of my favourite experiences have been when clients trusted me to bring a vision to life, giving me freedom to suggest ideas, push for readability, and add personal touches — and together we created something memorable.

ロンドンをベースに活動するアートディレクター、3Dアーティスト。慶應義塾大学環境情報学部卒。日本のTVCM制作会社、クリエイティブエージェンシーでの勤務を経て2016年に渡英。ロンドンのスタジオでの経験を積んだ後、2019年にフリーランスとして独立。3Dキャラクターデザイン、アニメーション、クリエイティブディレクションを中心に、コンセプトから最終レンダーまで一貫した制作を得意としている。
商業プロモーションやMV、屋外ビジョンでのアート展示、個人製作のショートアニメーションから、ロンドン、アメリカを中心にDNEG,Framestoreといった大手のVFXスタジオ、アニメーションスタジオでの仕事など、幅広く活動している。ストーリーテリングと、手作り感のような、あたたかみのような質感のある作品をつくっていきたい。

Software I use…

Cinema4D - I use it for modeling, texturing, rigging, animating, and more. I use Redshift for rendering.
Blender - I have been using Blender since 2020, and now it is my primal software. I use blender for modelling, texture painting, rigging, animating and rendering.
Substance Painter - I use it for making materials,
Zbrush - I use it for adding detail to my model.

Other than that, I use After Effect, Photoshop, and Illustrator daily. I also use Premiere sometimes for editing.
